Biography: Hi,
I am Gauresh Rane, masters student with Prof Mani.
I am working on the variability project in the lab.
Specifically working on building the virtualization based variability testbed. I am using QEMU for the hardware emulation and building of the testbed.
My areas of interest are Operating Systems, Distributed Systems and Networks. I have also done lot of web development in the past. But these days I am more involved in virtualization and networking stuff.
I am also working on Named Data Networking with Jeff Burke at UCLA. Most of my work there is related to developing android and java server backend code that uses NDN as the way of fetching data.
I completed my undergraduate in India, with major as Computer Engineering from D.J Sanghvi College Of Engineering, Mumbai University. I was involved in sensor network back in India, back then I was very much interested in solving fault tolerance problem in distributed systems.

  • Masters Of Science in Computer Science, HSSEAS, 2012.
    Thesis: Virtualization based testbed for Variability aware applications
    (done at NESL)

Experience: Worked as an intern at Google, Inc. Worked on hardware virtualization with them.
